HARRISON, NJ (February 20th, 2012) - The New York Red Bulls are excited to announce the formation of their player development partnership with SPD (SABA Player Development) for their first ever Regional Development School (RDS) in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn RDS will be hosted by SPD at the Red Hook field facility in Brooklyn, NY, and brings the highly regarded supplementary training program to the doorstep of some of the area's best youth soccer talent.  Intended for competitive and elite boys and girls, aged 8 to 14, the new partnership adds an important layer to the youth development initiatives in New York City by bringing additional high quality training to the area.

“We are delighted to be bringing the RDS to Brooklyn, at last,” said Bob Montgomery, Director of Youth Development for the Red Bulls Academy. “Our existing player pool has previously had to travel outside of New York City to access our training, but will now have access to the RDS within their own community. It’s also a great opportunity for Red Bulls to discover new talent in the area”.

“SPD was created to offer the talented youth of the region access to the most progressive training and developmental programs in the country,” said Jeffrey Saunders Co-Founder and Director of Player Development for SPD. “This partnership is yet another method to effect positive change in the way our youth are prepared for elite level soccer and life challenges.”

The Brooklyn RDS will run for nine weeks this spring, on consecutive Friday afternoons, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Tryouts are slated for March 25, and pre-registration is essential. For more information, and to register, please visit www.redbullsacademy.com/training.
