It was another perfect weekend for the Red Bulls Academy, as the U-14, U-16 and U-18 squads tallied wins against their opponents.

The Red Bulls’ U-14 Pre-Academy squad maintained its unbeaten record this weekend with a monstrous 9-0 win over the Boston Bolts Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Mingachos opened the flood gates with a goal in the fourth minute and the team tallied another five to send both sides into the half with New York holding a 6-0 lead. In the second half of play, Mingachos tallied another as Zaire Bartley and Kyle Casey rounded out the scoring. The U-14 boys travel to Long Island next week to face Albertson Academy.

In U-16 action, the boys pulled out another win to improve to 2-0 overall thanks to a 1-0 final against the Boston Bolts. Harrison Steadman tallied the lone goal in the 35th minute, courtesy of a well-placed cross from Brandon Tetro. It was an easy day for goalkeeper Alex Gogic, as the defense locked down around him and prevented Boston from placing a shot on frame. The U-16s return to action Sunday when they travel to Montreal to face the Impact Academy.

Finally, in U-18 play, the Red Bulls recorded a 4-1 win in their first home match of the season against FC Bolts Celtic. The Red Bulls created a number of chances early on, as Izzy Tandir and Alex Muyl each saw shots ricochet off the crossbar and out. Prior to that, Bryan Moya watched a great chance to find the netting cleared off the line by the Bolts Celtic’s defense.

But that all changed in the 28th minute, when Kyle Goodwin opened up the scoring for his first of the season. Tandir sought redemption for his shot off the crossbar in the 54th minute, when he sent one into the back of the net off a Moya pass. Vinny Brunetti, who subbed on in place of Muyl in the 65th minute, made his presence known quickly, as he assisted an Erik Sa goal in the 68th minute and tallied one of his own to round out the scoring in the 83rd.
