The game’s first eight minutes saw three goals. In the fourth minute, Jonny Steele crossed it to McCarty, who chested it down to Tim Cahill. Cahill poked it back to Dax McCarty and the Red Bulls midfielder hit a left-footed drive that beat goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth to give New York the lead.

New England answered back in the sixth minute, as Lee Nguyen’s free kick was nodded into New York’s net inadvertently by Red Bulls defender Brandon Barklage. However, moments later, the Red Bulls were again ahead. From the right sideline, Barklage strung a through ball into the path of Fabian Espindola. Espindola drove towards goal, cut to his left foot and found the bottom left corner of the net.

New England exerted pressure on New York for parts of the second half, but Thierry Henry iced the three points for the hosts with his third goal of the season in the 82nd minute. Steele dribbled down the left wing and slid it to an onside Henry, who went in alone and curled it past Shuttleworth and into the back of the net.

The Red Bulls weren’t finished and Steele completed the scoring one minute from full time, putting home an Eric Alexander pass from close range.

New York’s returns to action Saturday, April 27 when it takes on Toronto FC at 2:00 PM ET (TV: MSG; Radio: ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050 AM) at BMO Field. The Red Bulls are next home on Wednesday, May 8, facing the Montreal Impact at 7:30 PM. For tickets, call 1.877.RBSOCCER or log onto www.newyorkredbulls.com.
