This past Saturday Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry took part in Lionel Messi’s “Messi and Friends” charity event which kicked off from Chicago’s Solider Field.
In the 28th minute, former Northwestern University forward Matt Eliason stole the show in front of 25,000 fans, as he controlled a perfectly placed pass from Henry, one-bumped it off his chest, and wowed the crowd with a perfectly placed bicycle kick into the netting. The goal gave the World XI a 3-2 lead over Messi and Friends, before Messi and his teammates mounted a comeback to steal a 9-6 victory.
This goal was almost a spitting image of Henry’s bicycle kick goal in the 88th minute of the May 8 match against the Montreal Impact. The financial analyst and Northwestern’s all-time career leader in goals (33) and points (82) made SportsCenter’s “Top 10” as Saturday’s number one play in a video that everyone is sure to share around the world.
