The New York Red Bulls Academy sides completed a weekend sweep over Gottschee, as the clubs closed out the second week of the season on a high note.

Action kicked off with the U-14s, who started their regular season with a convincing 4-0 win over their rival Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn. Omir Fernandez and Timothy Weah each did their part to send the Red Bulls into the half up 2-0, before JP Marin added a brace of his own to pad the lead to 4-0. The score line would remain untouched for the final minutes of the match, as the Red Bulls’ defense locked down and limited Gottschee the rest of the way. The U-14s travel to New Hampshire next week to face Seacoast.

The U-15s also shut out Gottschee in their second match of the season, receiving goals from Rodrigo D’Andrea and Brian Saramago to ensure the win.

Improving to 2-0 thanks to a 2-0 win, the U-16s saw a pair of goals from Jerel Blades hold up as the side walked away with the ‘W’. Goalkeeper Nick Giordano earned the shutout in goal, while Kyle Duncan and Chris Flores each tagged an assist on Blades’ goals.

And finally in U-18 action, the Red Bulls defeated Gottschee 4-2 on goals from four different scorers. Harrison Steadman opened up the scoring in the sixth minute to tally his first of the season, but Gottschee answered back 37 minutes later to level the score. Dissatisfied with heading into the half tied, Nate Odusote sent a shot into the netting in the 45th minute to give the Red Bulls a 2-1 lead. In the second half, Alex Tejera padded the lead to 3-1, before Anthony Viteri picked up his first of the season in the 74th minute. It seemed all but final from that point on, but Gottschee was relentless on the attack, scoring one of their own in the 88th minute to draw within two. But it was too little too late, as the final whistle blew and U-18s left the pitch with a 4-2 victory.
