CREW PREP: Photos and quotes from RBNY's July 11th training session ahead of Columbus match

The New York Red Bulls took to the pitch at Red Bull Arena on Friday morning as they prepare to host the Columbus Crew on Saturday night. Kickoff for the match is set for 7:00 PM.

The team opened the session with some 5v2 games before splitting up into two larger groups. Following the 5v2 games, one group broke off into a possession game while the other group competed in a small-sided game with two goalkeepers.

The team ended with a little bit of finishing before leaving the field ahead of Saturday’s tilt.

Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke and midfielder Tim Cahill spoke about the importance of Saturday’s game against the Crew at the end of training.

“Yeah it could be a massive three points,” said Cahill. “We know exactly where they’re sitting and their stats. The last three games we should’ve won and gotten the maximum points from them. Overall, it’s up to us to try and get the right result because it really would set us up for the four games coming up.”

Petke echoed Cahill’s statements and also spoke about the importance of winning at home.

“You always want to win, especially the home games. It’s tough to say if it puts more emphasis on it. I think you are more aware of the situation and they’re aware of it. We’re sitting exactly even with them.”

“We’re at home and we need to get back to the home form we had last year and perhaps the road form we had this year a bit and get a result. I think the guys are up for it but time will tell.
