Although Bradley Wright-Phillips didn't set the MLS single-season goals record -- he equaled it -- he did claim the 2014 Budweiser Golden Boot as MLS's top goalscorer.
Sporting KC's Dom Dwyer finished second with 22 goals, followed by LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane (19), New England Revolution's Lee Nguyen (18), and Seattle Sounders' Obafemi Martins (17).
Wright-Phillips is the first New York player ever to lead the league in goals. (Note: In 2004, before the Golden Boot was officially established, New York's Amado Guevara finished tied for the most points but his 10 goals that year were two behind Brian Ching's league-leading tally of 12.)
Wright-Phillips joined the Red Bulls midway through the 2013 season after several years in England, including stints with Manchester City and Southampton. He scored twice in nine appearances (including playoffs) upon his arrival, but then exploded in 2014, including striking six game-winning goals and posting three hat tricks.
