CHICAGO (Nov. 17, 2014)
– New York Red Bulls Academy defender Tyler Adams has been named to the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team 20-player roster for three international matches in Chile, as announced by U.S. Soccer and U-17 MNT head coach Richie Williams earlier today.

Adams, a native of Wappinger’s Falls, N.Y., is currently in residency with the U.S. U-17 program in Bradenton, Florida, along with fellow Red Bulls Academy player Matt Olosunde, who will miss the trip due to injury.

The USA will face Chile, Brazil and Qatar at the 2014 Copa Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, which will take place from November 18-22. The U.S. opens against the hosts on Tuesday in Chillan, and then travels north to Talca for two more matches. The USA will face Brazil on Thursday, Nov. 20, followed by a match against Qatar on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Adams has a five-star rating from Top Drawer Soccer. He is ranked third overall, and second by position, in the IMG Academy Top 150. He has competed regularly for U.S. Youth National Sides.

This is the first competition for the U.S. at this age level since winning the Panama International Tournament in October. That tournament included victories against Costa Rica, Canada and Panama. Both Adams and Olosunde were part of the squad for that tournament.

Adams is one of thirteen players on the roster currently registered with a U.S. Development Academy team.
