HARRISON, NJ (January 20, 2015) – The New York Red Bulls selected defender Sean McLaws and midfielder Manolo Sanchez on Tuesday in the final rounds of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. The third and fourth rounds of the draft were held on Tuesday afternoon via conference call. McLaws, from Coastal Carolina, was selected with the 59th overall pick, 17th in Round 3, and Sanchez was taken with the 79th overall pick, 17th in round four.

McLaws, a native of Edmond, Oklahoma, played four seasons at Coastal Carolina University, ending his collegiate career with a 73-18-3 record, three Big South regular season titles and two tournament championships. As a senior, he played in 21 of the Chanticleer’s 23 games, leading his squad to a 16-6-1 record, tied for most wins in the nation. Last month, he was named the Big South Defensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career. McLaws also received Soccer America All-American third team honors. His 89 matches played are second-most in program history, and his 84 starts rank third.

Manolo Sanchez

Philadelphia-native Manolo Sanchez spent three years at Clemson after transferring from Louisville. As a senior he scored three goals, and his six assists were tied for the team lead. For his career he totaled 10 goals and 15 assists in 65 career appearances.
