Chris Tsonis named to USL Team of the Week after brace vs. Richmond Kickers

TAMPA, Fla. – Harrisburg City Islanders midfielder Jason Plumhoff has been voted the USL Player of the Week for the 19th week of the 2015 season after he scored a pair of goals, including a stoppage-time winner, to lead the 10-man City Islanders to a 4-3 comeback victory against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.


Plumhoff earned 67 percent of the vote, which was conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market. Toronto FC II goalkeeper Quillan Roberts finished second with 33 percent.


USL Team of the Week

GK – Quillan Roberts, Toronto FC II: Recorded a remarkable eight-save shutout that allowed TFC II to earn a 1-0 win against the Charleston Battery on Friday night


D – Max Gunderson, Austin Aztex: Provided a fine cross for Kris Tyrpak’s early goal, and was solid defensively in Austin’s win in Arizona


D – Giuliano Frano, Seattle Sounders FC 2: Scored the opening goal and was strong at the back as Sounders FC 2 claimed a 2-0 win against Portland


D – Joe Franco, LA Galaxy II: Helped the Galaxy II defense limit Portland to one shot on goal as Los Dos took a 1-0 win on the road on Sunday


M – Alex Martinez, Charlotte Independence: Strong all-around performance was capped by a fine finish as Charlotte defeated Montreal 2-0


M – Jason Plumhoff, Harrisburg City Islanders: His second of the game grabbed victory for the 10-man City Islanders as they defeated Pittsburgh 4-3


M – Brady Ballew, Tulsa Roughnecks FC: A major catalyst for the Roughnecks’ 4-0 win in Vancouver as he recorded a goal and an assist


M – Charlie Adams, Louisville City FC: Had a goal and an assist, and also drew a penalty kick, as Louisville claimed its fifth consecutive victory


M – Tony Walls, Rochester Rhinos: Provided the assist on the only goal, and was excellent at both ends as the Rhinos beat Charleston to remain undefeated


F – Craig Foster, Harrisburg City Islanders: Led the City Islanders’ comeback with a pair of goals against Pittsburgh after the side had been reduced to 10 men


F – Chris Tsonis, New York Red Bulls II: Had a pair of goals as the Red Bulls II strengthened their playoff standing with a 4-3 victory against Richmond
