HARRISON, N.J. (December 16, 2015) – New York Red Bulls Academy product Brandon Allen was named a finalist for the 2015 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. Allen, a senior at Georgetown University, is among three finalists from NCAA Division I schools around the country that have been marked as a contender for the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in college soccer.
The men’s finalists are Georgetown forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J.), Creighton forward Fabian Herbers (Ahaus, Germany), and Stanford forward Jordan Morris (Mercer Island, Wash.). The trophy presentation and banquet will take place on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.
NCAA Division I coaches that are National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Services members voted for their top choices from the list of 15 men and 15 women named semifinalists in early December, and the finalists were the top vote-getters from the combined NSCAA coaches and weighted fan votes.
Allen set the record for most goals in program history when he earned his 50th career goal in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. He completed his final college season with a team-high 12 goals, and provided seven assists. Two of the forward’s goals came in the BIG EAST Tournament en route to clinching Georgetown’s first BIG EAST Tournament Championship in program history.
The forward was unanimously elected First Team All-BIG EAST and named two-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, two-time BIG EAST Honor Roll, and two-time CollegeSoccerNews Team of the Week. He was also recently invited to the 2016 adidas MLS Player Combine.
Allen played for the New York Red Bulls Academy during the 2010-11 season and scored 28 goals in 24 appearances, the most goals scored by any player in the Academy that year. During that time, he was selected to the U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team and earned his first cap at the Lisbon International Tournament.
