HANOVER, N.J. – In the midst of their preparations for Sunday’s match, the Red Bulls received some encouraging news on the injury front.

After leaving the match in the 66th minute with an apparent injury in last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with the Philadelphia Union, fullback Sal Zizzo trained in full on Wednesday afternoon. Zizzo was replaced by Chris Duvall on Sunday after signaling to the bench for a substitution, but all signs point to Zizzo being fully fit for this weekend’s New York Derby.

On the other side of the defense, Kemar Lawrence continues to work his way back to the pitch. Since sustaining a groin injury while competing in this summer’s Copa America Centenario, the Jamaican international has been working his way back to full fitness.

On Wednesday, Lawrence trained off to the side in a shortened session, and as head coach Jesse Marsch revealed, he could be back with the team within the next week.

“Everybody’s pretty much healthy,” Marsch told reporters. “Kemar is getting closer and closer each day. Hopefully we’ll get him in training or close to it by this weekend.”

Striker Bradley Wright-Phillips was also limited to an abbreviated training session, but Marsch assured that the Englishman is not carrying any knocks leading into Sunday’s match.

“He’s had a physical toll this past month,” he added. “We’re just trying to get him some rest.”
