HARRISON, N.J. (August 13, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls extended their unbeaten streak to seven games in MLS, and eight overall, with a 3-1 over the Montreal Impact on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena. Bradley Wright-Phillips scored twice, setting a new franchise record for career regular season goals (59).
The Red Bulls are now 10-9-6 on the season and 9-2-1 at Red Bull Arena. With 36 points, the Red Bulls are tied for second place in the East with Toronto FC, who are in action later tonight.
Montreal went ahead in the 21st minute, with Matteo Mancosu getting the ball on the break and finding Ignacio Piatti in front of goal to finish off the counter attack.
Wright-Phillips responded almost immediately, getting on the end of a pass from Sacha Kljestan and getting enough of the ball to get it beyond a sliding Evan Bush. Sean Davis was also awarded an assist on the play.
The assist was Kljestan's league-leading 14th of season, tying him for the club's single-season assist record. Kljestan totaled 14 assists last season, tying the record set by Eduardo Hurtado in 1998 and equaled by Thierry Henry in 2014.
Wright-Phillips would get a second minutes later, connecting on a cross from Davis to head in his second of the game. With his second, Wright-Phillips surpassed Juan Pablo Angel's club record for MLS goals with his 59th for the Red Bulls.

It was also the 14th of the season for Wright-Phillips, putting him one behind Sebastian Giovinco for most in MLS this year.
Davis got a goal of his own at the start of the second half, stepping into a pass from Mike Grella to put away his second goal in two games. Davis has two goals and two assists since being named a starter after the injury to Dax McCarty.
New York will travel to El Salvador to face Alianza on Tuesday night in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 pm., with coverage on Univision Deportes and live on the CONCACAF Facebook page along with Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.
The Red Bulls resume MLS action with a trip to D.C. next weekend before returning home to host the New England Revolution on Sunday, August 28.
