USL MATCH RECAP: NYRB II close out USL regular season with a win

CHARLESTON, S.C. (September 24, 2016) - New York Red Bulls II grinded out a 2-1 win away against Charleston Battery to finish their record-breaking regular season with a victory. The win improves Red Bulls II to 21-3-6 on the season.



NYRB II now remains unbeaten for 10 consecutive games (9-0-1) and is on to the USL Playoffs after an extremely successful regular season run.


Vincent Bezecourt got Red Bulls II on the board in the 38th minute, scoring an impressive free kick from just outside the box with his left foot.


In the second half, Charleston midfielder Dante Marini leveled the game with a goal in the 50th minute. Red Bulls II responded in the 74th minute with a converted penalty kick from Brandon Allen to retake the lead and earn the 2-1 victory.


Red Bulls II begins its 2016 USL Cup Playoffs campaign on Sunday, October 2 in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. as New York prepares to face either Wilmington Hammerheads FC or Orlando City B.
