The United Soccer League announced the finalists for the 2016 USL Awards, which will be announced during USL Awards Week between Monday, Oct. 31 and Friday, Nov. 4. New York Red Bulls II has been nominated for four out of five awards, including Most Valuable Player, Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

New York Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec has been nominated for USL Coach of the Year, which will be announced on Wednesday, November 2. The 2016 USL Awards were voted on by team management and a league-wide media panel that included representation from every USL market.


Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec led the team to a historic and extremely successful season. New York finished 21-3-6, including a 13-1-2 road record, won the Regular Season Championship and set numerous records.


Under Wolyniec’s guidance, Red Bulls II set the record for most wins, most points, most goals scored, and largest goal differential. The team also showed remarkable improvement from last year, after they finished 12-10-6 and earned the fourth seed in their 2015 inaugural season.


On top of all that, they earned the number one seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. They utilized the home field to their advantage, on their way to winning the USL Cup, 5-1. The club finished on a 14-game unbeaten streak, spanning back to July 30.
