REPORT: Luis Robles to start for USMNT vs. Jamaica

TUCSON, Ariz. (February 2, 2017) – In a press conference on Thursday, Feb. 2, U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Bruce Arena said New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles will be U.S. Soccer’s starting goalkeeper against Jamaica.

Robles’ last USMNT appearance came on Jan. 31, 2016, in a 3-2 win over Iceland. The friendly against Jamaica would mark his third senior team cap.


The goalkeeper, currently in his second-consecutive January camp, led MLS with 16 wins and 11 shutouts in 2016.


The Red Bulls ironman played all 34 regular season games for the fourth season, bringing his consecutive games (and starts) mark to 140 in the regular season.


He also reached 100 saves for the third time in his MLS career.


The U.S. Men’s National Team faces Jamaica in a friendly on Friday, Feb. 3, at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET on FS1, Unimas and UDN.
