  • The New York Red Bulls earned a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday afternoon in the 2017 MLS home opener. An own goal just before halftime made the difference, and Luis Robles earned a shutout while setting a new league record for consecutive games played with his 142nd MLS appearance.
  • New York is now unbeaten in 18 league games, dating back to July of 2016. The all-time MLS record for an unbeaten streak is 19, held by both Columbus and FC Dallas.
  • Columbus’ streak spanned two seasons, while FC Dallas’ was contained in a single year. 
  • New York is 13-4-5 all-time in home openers.
  • Robles set another MLS record, breaking Chris Klein’s previous mark of 142 consecutive appearances.
  • Homegrown player Derrick Etienne, Jr. earned his first MLS start, playing up top alongside Bradley Wright-Phillips.
  • Fredrik Gulbrandsen made his debut just a day after receiving his visa. Gulbrandsen traveled to join the team last night, and entered the match in the 88th minute. The forward is with New York on loan from FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga.
