Starting XI: Red Bulls Roll With Deep Roster

Jesse Marsch Pointing

The New York Red Bulls are showing a different Starting XI to Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night.

Head Coach Jesse Marsch said that the team will test their depth this week, with three games over eight days.

New York will feature Gonzalo Veron and Fredrik Gulbrandsen on the pitch to start the game, and will see Derrick Etienne Jr. and Alex Muyl in the Starting XI. Bradley Wright-Phillips will be available off the bench.

"We think we’re deep," Marsch said after training on Monday. "It’s a good opportunity to learn more about ourselves and put guys to the test. We’ll try to figure out which guys are the ones that we think are ready to recover and repeat and go again."

The Red Bulls will also start Sean Davis and Felipe, while Sacha Kljestan and Tyler Adams start the game on the bench.

Aaron Long, Sal Zizzo, Michael Amir Murillo and Connor Lade will also start for the Red Bulls. Damien Perrinelle, Hassan Ndam and Kemar Lawrence will be available off the bench.

This is the first time in club history that four Homegrown players will be featured in the Starting XI (Davis, Etienne, Lade and Muyl).

Luis Robles will start in goal. Ryan Meara will be on the bench.
