USL Match Recap: NYRB II Fall in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, PA (July 12, 2017) – New York Red Bulls II played Harrisburg City Islanders to a 2-0 loss at FNB Field Wednesday night. The result dropped NYRB II to 6-9-3 on the season.


Playing their second game in three nights took a toll on New York’s legs as they also played  with a shortened bench.


Harrisburg opened the scoring with two first half goals, scored by James Thomas and Paul Wilson in the 20th and 41st minutes respectively.


Rafael Diaz totaled a season-high six saves on the evening to keep the match close.


Red Bulls U-18 player Zaire Bartley made his NYRB II debut in the 78th minute as he came on as a substitute for David Najem.


Returning from athletic pubalgia surgery, Stefano Bonomo made his 2017 debut on the bench for the evening but did not receive any action.


Despite New York holding 58 percent possession, Harrisburg outshot them, 17-14.


New York Red Bulls II return home Saturday for a clash with the Charlotte Independence at 4:00 p.m. ET at MSU Soccer Park.
