New York Red Bulls captain Sacha Kljestan became the franchise’s all-time leader in MLS assists as a Red Bull with 43.
Kljestan surpassed Thierry Henry in the 90th minute as he earned the primary assist for Muyl’s goal.
“I can’t say I’m not proud,” Kljestan said, following the team’s 3-0 win over Minnesota United FC. “Obviously, to move in front of a guy like Thierry Henry is special and to do it in about two-and-a-half years says something, though I’m proud of it.”
Kljestan joined New York in 2015 and led the league in assists in 2016, with 20. He became just the second player in MLS history to have 20 assists in one season.
“Overall, I’m proud of my career so far with the Red Bulls, but hopefully its only just begun,” Kljestan said.
