HARRISON, N.J. (August 16, 2017) –  The New York Red Bulls (12-9-2) face off against the Portland Timbers (9-9-7) on Friday night at Providence Park. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET with coverage on FS1 and New York Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.


New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 9:30 p.m. ET with triHonda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon.


It will be the second time this season in which New York will have faced three opponents in a span of eight days or less. The Red Bulls previously played Chicago (W, 2-1), at Sporting Kansas City (L, 0-2) and at Philadelphia (L, 0-3) and went 1-2 from April 29 to May 6. New York has won two matches in the last four days, defeating Orlando City, 3-1 at Red Bull Arena then defeating FC Cincinnati, 3-2 in the Open Cup Semifinal.


Bradley Wright-Phillips and super sub forward Gonzalo Veron combined for three goals in a 26-minute span to help New York advance to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final for the first time since 2003 and just the second time in franchise history. Veron, who subbed on in the 56th minute, tallied his second career Open Cup goal in the 75th minute to cut the deficit to one, 2-1. Wright-Phillips recorded his 16th career brace (78th & 101st min) across all competitions in 23 minutes to help the Red Bulls push past FC Cincinnati.


Having the match rescheduled from Sunday to Friday, New York and Portland will face off on Friday night at Providence Park. In the last three meetings in Portland, New York has stolen at least one point. The Red Bulls recently took three points in Portland on Sept. 20, 2015, winning 2-0. New York’s last match on a Friday was back on May 19 when the Red Bulls hosted Toronto. New York and Toronto finished the match even at 1-1. Portland is 2-0 on a Friday this season, defeating Minnesota on the road, 5-1 and San Jose, 2-0 at home.


New York returns to Red Bull Arena to host NYCFC for the final leg of the New York Derby on Friday, August 25. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish
