Kemar Lawrence Joins Jamaica for Friendly vs. Canada

Kemar Lawrence Jamaica

New York Red Bulls defender Kemar Lawrence has joined the Jamaican National Team ahead of their friendly against Canada on Saturday, September 2.

The game is a rematch of last month’s thrilling CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinal. Jamaica won that matchup 2-1 and knocked Canada out of the Gold Cup.

The two teams will face off at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday.

Lawrence started each game of the Gold Cup for his country. He scored a stunner free kick goal to top Mexico in the semifinals to help Jamaica advance to the final. He assisted in the Gold Cup final game in their loss to the United States, their second Gold Cup final loss in three years.

Lawrence will miss New York's match against FC Dallas on September 2.

Panamanian defenders Michael Amir Murillo and Fidel Escobar will also be away from the team for the game, as they participate in the World Cup qualifiers for their national team.
