MATCH RECAP: New York, Philadelphia Scoreless at Red Bull Arena

Sean Davis

The New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union played to a 0-0 draw Sunday afternoon at Red Bull Arena.

Philadelphia goalkeeper Andre Blake denied Gonzalo Veron three times in the first half and dove to his right to push aside a shot by Derrick Etienne Jr. en route to seven first-half saves.

In search of a winning goal, Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch called on Sacha Kljestan and Bradley Wright-Phillips in the second half. The home side came close in the 71st minute when Kljestan was chipped into the box by Connor Lade, but the Red Bulls captain was unable to find Alex Muyl at the back post.

Six minutes later, Kljestan's free kick was saved by Blake and kicked out to deny Wright-Phillips on the doorstep to seal the draw.
