Following the 2018 FIFA World Cup Draw, New York Red Bulls defenders Michael Amir Murillo, Fidel Escobar, and Panama discovered their Group Stage opponents for next year’s World Cup.

Drawn into Group G, Panama will face Belgium, Tunisia and England at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Escobar and Murillo, who both completed their first season with the Red Bulls in 2017, were instrumental in Panama’s first ever qualification for the World Cup.

Murillo, who just completed his transfer from San Francisco FC, started 15 MLS games last season, scored two goals and played in all three Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs matches.

Escobar, on loan from San Miguelito, started five MLS games for New York since joining the club on July 27.

Panama finished in third place of CONCACAF’s World Cup Qualifying, which earned them an automatic bid to compete in the World Cup.

Panama finished the group with 13 points, trailing leader Mexico (21 pts.) and Costa Rica (16 pts.).

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is set to kickoff on June 14, 2018. The final is set for July 15, 2018.
