YEAR IN REVIEW: Sean Davis

Holmdel, N.J., native Sean Davis continued to improve for the New York Red Bulls in 2017.

In his third season with the team, Davis found himself in an influential role for the side, especially during the final stages of the MLS regular season and the 2017 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

The Homegrown player started for the Red Bulls 21 times in 27 appearances this MLS regular season. Over those 27 appearances, Davis totaled two goals and four assists, proving to be a workhorse in the Red Bulls midfield.

The 24-year-old featured in all three of the Red Bulls’ playoff matches, starting two and earning one assist.

Davis found himself more in the Red Bulls midfield this year with more games, and even overcame adversity to establish himself as a member of the Starting XI.

“I believe that I’m a fighter and I knew that there would be adversity,” Davis said. “There’s going to be times where you’re under the gun a little bit, you’re under the microscope, and you want that as a player, to be honest.”

However, Davis stated while being “under the microscope,” the team, along with himself, rose to the challenge.

“If you take a look back at the season, not only from a team standpoint but a personal standpoint, you have a group that will do whatever it takes to drive this whole philosophy and club forward,” Davis stated. “From that standpoint, I’m proud of how I was able to handle my situation and how I was able to grow into the person and player I am today.”
