Sean Davis: Chicago is ‘Better Than Their Results Show’

The New York Red Bulls will look to rebound from last weekend’s loss when they travel to face the Chicago Fire on Saturday at SeatGeek Stadium.

Although the Fire have started the season 0-1-1, Midfielder Sean Davis knows that record doesn’t tell the whole story.

“They’re a team that’s desperate already early on this season but also a team that’s better than their results show,” Davis said. “I think that they have a lot of dangerous pieces. They’re pretty good with the ball, very good in possession, and so it’s not going to be an easy task at all. We have to be ready to fight and compete and be dangerous on the road and hopefully find the first goal.”

Head Coach Chris Armas echoed similar thoughts when speaking to the media at the Red Bulls Training Facility on Tuesday afternoon.

“They’ve played pretty well, haven’t gotten all the results but they’re typically really strong in their building,” Armas said.

Chicago is 24-12-15 since 2016 at SeatGeek Stadium, and due to their versatility within their tactical setup, Armas knows it'll be a challenge facing Chicago's talented roster, but something the Red Bulls will be ready for.

“They’re an interesting team because around the field they’re very talented,” Armas said. “They’re very specific, how they use [Bastian] Schweinsteiger and Dax McCarty. They have some talented players, and sometimes it looks like five at the back, but then Schweinsteiger comes in the midfield. There is a lot of fluidity within their team, which I think is a strength and it could be something that we can catch them on. They're well coached, they're talented as anything, so we'll have to be up for a big challenge.”
