Match Preview: NYRB II Head on the Road to Face Ottawa

HARRISON, N.J. (May 6, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II will travel to face Ottawa Fury on May 8, with kick-off set for 10:30 a.m. ET. The match can be seen live on ESPN+.  


NYRB II are coming off a dominant victory over Birmingham Legion F.C., which saw the team score five goals. New York Red Bulls midfielder Derrick Etienne, Jr. started the scoring in the 23rd minute. Forward Mathias Jørgensen recorded a brace and defender Sean Nealis scored his first professional goal. Forward Tom Barlow tallied his eighth goal of the season, which makes him the leader of goals scored in the USL Championship.  


NYRB II and Ottawa Fury FC will face off for the first-time this season. Last season, the two teams met three times, with each team taking four points away from those matches. The last time out, NYRB II defeated Ottawa, 1-0, at MSU Soccer Park with a goal from Jared Stroud in the ninth minute.


Ottawa Fury FC is coming off a 2-0 victory over Atlanta United 2. Kevin Oliveira leads the team with two goals scored in six matches. Ottawa holds a series advantage with a 3-2-1 record against NYRB II.


Following Wednesday’s match, NYRB II will go back on the road to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies on May 18, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
