Zajec's First Professional Goal: 'A Great Feeling'

Zajec's 1st

NYRB II midfielder Kyle Zajec made his professional debut for the club on March 28, 2015 against the Rochester Rhinos. He would then go to Georgetown University, where he would become captain and lead the Hoyas to multiple Big East Championships.

Four years later, he scored his first professional goal against Bethlehem Steel FC, for the club that he made his professional debut for.

“It was awesome. You know, Jared [Stroud] gave me a good pass. He made it easy,” said Zajec.

Zajec’s first goal came in the 26th minute off a pass from Stroud, who became the club’s all-time assist leader. Five minutes later, Zajec struck again hitting volley into the bottom corner to increase the lead for NYRB II.

Head Coach John Wolyniec could not be happier for his young midfielder. “It is great. Kyle is a hard worker and he has done well with the time I have given him,” Wolyniec said.

Zajec has made seven appearances, with five starts this season for the club. The midfielder just had one thing to say about the excitement on scoring not one, but two goals in the victory.

“It was a great feeling,” Zajec said.
