Aaron Long Named to U.S. Soccer Gold Cup Roster

HARRISON, N.J. (June 6, 2019) – New York Red Bulls centerback Aaron Long was named to the United States Men’s National Team final Gold Cup Roster, head coach Greg Berhalter announced today.


The U.S. is scheduled to play three Gold Cup Group Stage matches, beginning with Guyana on Tuesday, June 18. USMNT will then face Trinidad and Tobago on June 22 and complete the group stage on June 26 against Michael Amir Murillo and the Panamanian National team. There will be a three-day break before knockout matches that are played from June 29 through July 7.


Long, 26, will have a chance to compete in the Gold Cup Tournament for the first time in his career. The Oak Hills, California, native has been a mainstay with the USMNT since his first call-up during the 2017 October FIFA Window. Long worn the armband twice for the U.S. against Panama and Costa Rica for international friendlies. He has started five matches and played the full 90 minutes in all five.


For the Red Bulls, Long has started and played 13 matches across all competitions. He has helped anchor a New York backline to three clean sheets, one in MLS and two in Concacaf Champions League play. Long has also contributed offensively, tallying one goal and one assist in league play in 765 minutes.
