What to Watch For: NYRB II vs. Louisville City FC

Epps vs. BST

New York Red Bulls II will host defending champions, Louisville City FC, on Sunday, June 16, with kick-off set for 3 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch out for:

A LOT OF HISTORY

These two clubs have met a total of ten times, with NYRB II holding the regular season advantage with a 4-3-1 record, and Louisville City holding a 1-0-2 playoff record, but advancing once on penalty kicks. The past matches between the two clubs have provided two penalty kick shootouts and a match that recorded ten goals combined. If history shows us something, it is that the match on Sunday is sure to be a good one.

THE MAN IS ON FIRE

Midfielder Kyle Zajec has been on a tear as of late scoring three goals in his last two matches, while playing a No. 6. The Westport, Conn. native has been playing his best soccer of the season the last two matches and with a big match like this on Sunday, expect him to not slow down. Zajec earned USL Championship Team of the Week for his performance against Bethlehem Steel FC in Week 13.

AN IMPORTANT RESULT

NYRB II have posted a 6-2-1 record at home this season, which is one of the best home records in USL Championship. This match becomes more important when you look at the schedule ahead for NYRB II. After Sunday’s match, they will travel to Pittsburgh, Nashville, and Charleston in one week. It is never easy to play on the road, but three road matches in a week is a lot. That makes this match an important one to grab three points.

Following Sunday’s match, New York Red Bulls II will return home on July 5 to face Ottawa Fury FC, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET. For tickets, visit www.newyorkredbulls.com/2/tickets or call 1.877.727.7585.
