HARRISON, N.J. (June 14, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II will host defending champions, Louisville City FC, on June 16, with kick-off set for 3 p.m. ET. The match can be seen live on ESPN+.
NYRB II are coming off a 3-1 victory over Atlanta United FC 2, which extended their winning streak to two matches. Defender Edgardo Rito scored his first goal of the season in the 44th minute, while Sebastian Elney recorded the game-winning goal and the first of his career in the 47th minute. Kyle Zajec scored his third goal in two matches to provide NYRB II with an insurance goal late in the match. Midfielder Chris Lema tallied two assists in the match.
NYRB II last met Louisville City FC in the 2018 USL Championship Eastern Conference Finals, which was the third-straight year the two clubs have faced off in the match. Louisville City FC won the match, 5-1, and then went on to win the 2018 USL Championship Cup.
Louisville City FC are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak, which most recently saw them defeat Loudoun United FC on June 8. Magnus Rasmussen is their leading goal-scorer with six goals on the season.
Following Sunday’s match, NYRB II will begin a three-match road trip, which begins with a trip to Pittsburgh to face the Riverhounds on June 22.
