Keys to the Game

KEYS TO THE GAME, pres. by Honda: D.C. United vs. New York Red Bulls

Keys to the Game DC Away

The New York Red Bulls travel to the country’s capital to play against D.C. United. The Red Bulls are still ahead D.C. by one point in the Eastern Conference Standings. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Here are the Keys to the Game, presented by Honda:

Recuperate Confidence

After two straight losses, the Red Bulls are in search of confidence. In the last three games, they’ve only scored once, a goal scored by Homegrown Player Omir Fernandez.

As the team enters the last months of the present season, the next weeks will be important in winning confidence and getting a positive run going.

Last season, New York got a 2-1 victory in its visit to Audi Field. Kaku and Danny Royer were the goalscorers.

Lessons Learned from Last Meeting

Although the Red Bulls lost 1-0 to D.C. in their last meeting, the Red Bulls created enough scoring chances to get on the scoring board.

Just in the first 45 minutes of that match, the Red Bulls headed into halftime after taking ten shots, four of them on target.

Against Philaldephia, Dru Yearwood got his first MLS minutes, while Samuel Tetteh is still waiting to make his first MLS appearance.

Yearwood and Tetteh’s presence should provide New York new ideas as it prepares its visit to D.C.

D.C. United Shows Inconsistent Performances

After defeating the Red Bulls 1-0, D.C. United drew 0-0 against New York City FC.

D.C. finished Sunday’s game without a single shot in the entirety of the game.

Head Coach Ben Olsen used the same Starting XI for both the visit to the Red Bulls and home game against NYCFC. We’ll see if he puts the same starting line-up on Saturday.
