Match Preview: NYRB II Start Three-Match Road Trip in North Carolina

HARRISON, N.J. (October 3, 2019) – New York Red Bulls II begin their three-game road trip with a visit to WakeMed Soccer Park to take on North Carolina FC on Saturday, October 5. The match can be seen live on ESPN+ with kickoff set for 7 p.m. ET.


NYRB II settled for a draw in their final regular season game at MSU Soccer Park last week against Charleston Battery. Mathias Jørgensen gave New York the lead in the 51st minute but a stoppage time header from A.J. Paterson rescued a point for Charleston. With just three games remaining, NYRB II sit in third place in the Eastern Conference with 57 points.


These two sides last met on May 24 at MSU Soccer Park where North Carolina would walk away with three points. The visitors jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Sam Brotherton and Steven Miller. Jared Stroud’s strike in the 77th minute would not be enough as North Carolina walked away with a 2-1 victory. 


North Carolina FC are coming off their first win in five games, a 3-1 victory over Ottawa Fury FC. The club currently sit seventh in the Eastern Conference and will be looking to secure their spot in the USL Championship playoffs this weekend.


Following Saturday’s match, New York Red Bulls II remain on the road to face Birmingham Legion FC on Wednesday, October 16 with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET.
