What to Watch For: NYRB II @ North Carolina FC

Celebration

New York Red Bulls II travel to take on North Carolina FC on Saturday, September 5, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch for:

BOUNCE BACK

New York Red Bulls II settled for a draw against North Carolina FC after losing two consecutive matches prior. The team has played well in games that followed draws this season, winning three out of five results. After losing three of five matches in September, NYRB II will look to get on track before the USL Championship playoffs begin.

EVERY POINT COUNTS

With just three games remaining in the USL Championship regular season, NYRB II are currently in a battle for hosting their first-round playoff match. The team currently sits third in the Eastern Conference with 57 points. Just two points separate first and fifth place in the East at the moment, making each point available a necessity. With a result this weekend, chances of hosting a playoff match will most surely increase.

JØRGENSEN ON FIRE

Mathias Jørgensen became the third NYRB II player to score double-digit goals this season, the others being Jared Stroud and Tom Barlow. He has 10 goals in 18 appearances, including two in his last three. With the playoffs fast approaching, it will be crucial for Jørgensen to continue his recent form.

Following Saturday’s match, NYRB II will have ten days to prepare for their match against Birmingham Legion FC on October 16, with kick-off set for 8 p.m. ET.
