New York Red Bulls II Goalkeeper Luca Lewis signed with the club on September 22, 2020. After three seasons in Italy, the United States international returned home to New York City. He made 14 appearances for Torino Primavera last season and earned seven shutouts.


Lewis made his first appearance for NYRB II on September 26 against Philadelphia Union II. He recorded two saves and earned his first win with the club.

Q. What has been the best moment of your soccer career so far?

Lewis:  The best moment of my soccer career was winning the U-18 Serie A and getting called up to the U-20 United States Youth National Team.


Q. You were born in New York and then moved to Italy, what were your three years in Italy like?

Lewis: I was born in New York City and the moved to Italy shortly after. I returned to the United States when I was ten years old, and at the age of 16, I went to play for Torino FC. It was a very challenging three years, but extremely beneficial for my career. I learned so much about the game and made great friends in my time there.


Q. What is your favorite memory from your time in Italy?

Lewis:  My favorite memory was when we defeated Inter Milan, 2-0, to win the U-18 Serie A League.


Q. How did it feel to make your debut against Union II on 9/26?

Lewis: It was very different from what I had been use to in Italy and the style of play is much more aggressive and counter attacking. It was awesome to start after just four trainings and after not playing for seven months because of the pandemic. I was very happy that the team never gave up even being a man down for more than half the match.


Q. What is your favorite pre-game music?

Lewis:  I like to listen to Meek Mill, Pusha T, and other rap artists.


Q. What do you like to do when you’re not training or playing soccer?

Lewis: When I am not playing soccer, I like to have dinner with friends, go to the beach, and watch movies.


Q. Was there a player that you grew up admiring when you were younger?

Lewis: Two goalkeepers that I admired when I was growing up were Sebastien Frey and Salvatore Sirigu.


Q: What would be your go-to karaoke song?

Lewis: My go-to karaoke song is Hello by Adele.


Q. What is your favorite movie of all time?

Lewis:  My favorite movie is Scarface.


Q. Who is your favorite club to support? 

Lewis: My favorite club to support is Fiorentina.


Q: Who is your role model?

Lewis: My two role models are Salvatore Sirigu, who I was able to train with for three years at Torino, and Muhammad Ali.
