2019 Year in Review: Preston Kilwien

Kilwien

Preston Kilwien worked his way into a NYRB II backline regular after signing with the team on March 7.

Kilwien would make his first NYRB II appearance as a substitute on April 14 away against Charlotte Independence. Just four days later, Kilwein made his first start and played his first minutes at MSU Soccer Park in the team’s 4-0 win over Hartford Athletic, helping the backline record its first clean sheet of the season.

The Pleasantville, California native would go on to make 24 appearances in his debut season with the team. Kilwien was crucial in helping NYRB II keep opponents off the scoresheet, appearing in five of the team’s seven shutouts.

The 22-year-old finished the season with the third highest clearances on the team (48), completed 32 interceptions and was successful in 68.2% of his tackles.

With a year of professional soccer under his belt, Preston Kilwein has proven himself as an important piece to NYRB II’s defense.
