2019 Year in Review: Sebastian Elney

Elney

Sebastian Elney, the former University of Maryland striker, signed with NYRB II on March 7 and wasted no time getting into the squad.

The Boca Raton, Florida native made his debut with the team on March 9, coming off the bench against Swope Park Rangers at MSU Soccer Park.

Elney was given his first start when NYRB II traveled to take on Ottawa Fury FC. The 22-year-old played 90 minutes at striker in the eventual 1-1 draw.

On June 8, Elney scored his first goal as a professional soccer player. Upon receiving the ball, Elney outpaced a pair of Atlanta United 2 defenders and sent a right-footed shot into the back of the net.

He had his best game when NYRB II welcomed Saint Louis FC to MSU Soccer Park on August 2. Elney scored both goals in the team’s 2-0 victory, earning his first career brace along the way.

The forward came off the bench and played 19 minutes in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against Indy Eleven.
