5 REASONS TO WATCH, pres. by Franklin Group: D.C. United vs. New York Red Bulls

5 Reasons 091618

The New York Red Bulls (17-7-4, 55 pts) travel to D.C. United (9-11-7, 34 pts) for the 2018 Atlantic Cup finale on Sunday at Audi Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and New York Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.

Here are 5 Reasons to Watch, pres. by the Franklin Group:

Two Hundred

With the start on Sunday, Luis Robles will notch regular season start No. 200 for the New York Red Bulls.

Robles recently snapped his ironman streak at 183 matches, but has rebounded to appear in 25 of the team's 28 games this season.

Robles is No. 9 on the all-time MLS goalkeeper win list with 96 and No. 10 on the all-time shutout list with 59.

Atlantic Cup Sweep

With two wins already in 2018, the Red Bulls have already secured this year's Atlantic Cup. They'll look to sweep the three matches on Sunday.

New York topped D.C. both times by a score of 1-0, one at Red Bull Arena and one at Audi Field.

No team has swept a season series since they started playing three matches a year in 2012.

Shield Race

New York will look to stay on top of the race for the Supporters' Shield by the end of the weekend.

With just six matches remaining, including the game against D.C., every point is precious in the battle for end of year hardware.

Playoff Implications

United is surging of late, winning six of their last 10, with only two losses, and looking to grab a spot in the 2018 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

They're currently on the outside looking in, with 34 points through 27 matches, good for seventh in the Eastern Conference. They will need to pick up points if they're hoping to play into November.

Assist Watch

Kaku went the entire month of August without registering an assist, but he still sits atop the league for most assists.

He's had success vs. D.C. this season, notching the game-winning assist in the two team's first matchup and scoring the game-winning goal in their most recent meeting.

Kaku will look to stay in the mix for the "silver boot," starting with some assists against D.C.
