Academy Product Roald Mitchell Named to the U-20 U.S. Youth National Team Roster for their January Camp

HARRISON, N.J. (January 19, 2023) – Red Bulls Academy Product and current Wake Forest University forward Roald Mitchell has been named to the United States U-20 Youth National Team Roster for their January camp, U.S. Soccer announced today.

Mitchell, 20, was a member of Red Bulls Academy before going to play collegiately at Wake Forest University. The Montclair, N.J. native joined Red Bulls Academy in 2018 and spent time with New York Red Bulls II in 2021. Mitchell made 10 appearances for Red Bulls II and recorded two goals and two assists in 571 minutes played. The forward was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week on May 25, 2021.

Mitchell has played two seasons with Demon Deacons, where he has scored 10 goals and tallied six assists in 37 appearances. He earned All-ACC second team honors after scoring seven goals this past season. Mitchell started in all 20 matches for Wake Forest this season and scored his first career hat trick and added an assist against Winthrop on September 6, 2022. He tallied the most points (7) by a Demon Deacon since 2014.

The United States U-20 Youth National Team camp will run from January 19 to January 29 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Mitchell and the U-20’s will play in a couple exhibition matches including one against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, January 28.
