After scoring his first goal in MLS and adding the game-winning assist, Emil Forsberg has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 4, presented by Audi.
Forsberg, making his first start in his new Red Bull Arena home, slotted home a goal from the penalty spot in the first half, carrying the team into the break up a goal. In the second half, he found Lewis Morgan across the top of the 18 with a cross, allowing Morgan to score the eventual game-winner.
"I think I saved it for home, it's better to score in front of our fans," Forsberg said. "It felt good, an amazing feeling, to score the first goal. A good feeling, a little bit of a stone releasing from my shoulders. I [hit] two crossbars before. I'm happy we got the win, undefeated so far, and I think we're taking steps every day."
Forsberg was also named to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench for Matchday 1 and 2 of the season.
"First of all, a big thanks for the fans who came out, amazing," Forsberg said. "It was not an easy weather day today, it was really hell, but they were there supporting us, so for us as well to win in front of them to give them a win. That was very important for us. I'm happy and proud of the team. I'm proud of the fans. And I think we all have a good feeling right now. We just have to keep moving, be humble, and keep working."
