eMLS: Get To Know New York Red Bulls eMLS player Mike LaBelle

With the inaugural eMLS Cup kicking off at PAX East in Boston, New York Red Bulls eMLS player Mike LaBelle is ready to represent New York as he goes for eMLS Cup glory.

Let’s get to know him a bit better as the competition gets underway:

Collegiate Soccer Player

LaBelle, 28, attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. He played two years of college soccer, recording his first career goal on September 5, 2009 via the penalty spot against the University of the Southwest. The Houston native later graduated from Texas A&M.

Experience Not a Problem

At 17, LaBelle won a national qualifier for the FIFA eWorld Cup and began traveling overseas for events. For years, he’s dominated FIFA tournaments across the globe, from the Virgin Gaming Challenge Series to the EA FIFA National Tour to the World Cyber Games. He began solely focusing on FIFA in 2013, but he previously qualified for the World Final in both Madden and NHL as well.

Excitement to Represent

Mike’s a competitor and now a part of the New York Red Bulls, he wants to show what he’s all about.

“I couldn't be happier to represent the New York Red Bulls organization and I'm looking forward to this new structured event with the eMLS, LaBelle said. “I've been pushing for Esports almost a decade in North America in terms of FIFA and here we are! We finally have our first Esports push that's official with EA and the MLS. This weekend will tell us a lot about the players, tournament structure, and the future of the eMLS -- Let's make this a memorable event.”

In the meantime, be sure to follow all that’s happening at the eMLS Cup by Playstation with LaBelle on the New York Red Bulls social channels!
