The New York Red Bulls welcome Sporting Kansas City to Red Bull Arena for a Saturday night matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen live on MSG, MSG Go and heard on New York Red Bulls Radio.
Here’s Five Reasons to Attend Saturday’s match:
Third In The Standings

The Red Bulls currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, while Kansas City holds the same position for the Western Conference. The two teams have almost identical statistics coming into Saturday’s game.

RBNY (10 wins) sits ahead of KC (9 wins) by one win this season, while Kansas City (33 points) leads New York by one point (32 points). Sporting KC has scored a total of 35 goals this season and the Red Bulls have scored 34.

First Matchup

Red Bulls and Sporting KC have yet to face-off this season. The last time these two teams saw each other was in the Open Cup final match last September where New York fell to KC by one goal. RBNY hopes to flip the score around this time.

RBA Magic

RBNY has a record of 6-1-1 at home so far this season. Since Red Bull Arena opened in 2010, the team has dominated at home every year, winning eight-or-more games per season, and losing no more than six.

The 2018 season has been no different so far, as they’re on pace to keep the eight-or-more home wins streak alive, with nine home matches remaining on the season. This weekend, the Red Bulls will look to come out with three points to tally another home field victory.

Chris Armas' Home Debut

The upcoming match at Red Bull Arena against Sporting KC will be Chris Armas’s first match as Head Coach. After RBNY’s last game against NYCFC he said, “I was very comfortable today. I was comfortable in the role, and I think the comfort comes from the group of guys that I’m coaching.”

According to the team, they have enjoyed having Chris as their coach thus far and believe he has been doing a great job. "I think he's done a good job integrating himself seamlessly,” Sean Davis said. “It's great having a coach within that understands our system and that knows the players well.”

Pride Night

The Red Bulls will host their second annual Pride Night this Saturday, presented by Bayer. RBNY has teamed up with Garden State Equality and other organizations to promote LGBTQ acceptance and spread the message of diversity.

The event will feature LGBTQ athletes and executives, who will participate in a pre-game panel beginning at 5 pm.
