Five Things Alex Muyl Said at Final Media Day

On Thursday, November 10, Alex Muyl addressed the media for the final time following the completion of the Red Bulls’ 2016 season. Here’s what the rookie Homegrown Player had to say:

  • Muyl expressed his happiness with the opportunities he was presented as a rookie, adding, “I was able to grow a lot, and learn a lot.”
  • The 21-year-old thought the club played well in the playoffs, but chasing the series after the first game was detrimental. “I think we dominated the games, but it didn’t go our way.”
  • Muyl dismissed the notion that the 20-game unbeaten streak in all competitions took any energy out of the team entering the playoffs, saying, “I just think that we had two performances where we weren’t quite ourselves and we had to pay for it.”
  • He also voiced his excitement for the Champions League quarterfinals in February and is happy to set his sights on a new challenge following the conclusion of the season.
  • Despite the disappointment of being knocked out of the playoffs, he refused the idea of forgetting the loss and instead insisting, “you have to take this experience as a learning experience…you have to use everything that you’ve learned”
