The New York Red Bulls welcomed Saer Sene to the club on August 12 after acquiring the forward via a trade with the New England Revolution. The Red Bulls sent Andre Akpan and allocation money to New England for Sene and an international roster spot.

New York Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh spoke about the addition and what Sene can bring to the club on the field.

“Sene, who can play wide or up front, will add a different dimension and another option to our attack,” said Roxburgh. “We’re excited to bring him aboard.”

Sene first joined MLS with New England in 2012. In his first season with the Revolution, the lef-footed forward led the team in scoring with 11 goals and added three assists. Sene has 17 career goals and eight assists in 59 career appearances in MLS.

“I like when we play offensive,” said Sene. “It doesn’t matter where you put me. If you put me on the left, on the right, or up top, if the team plays offensively, I will have fun. It’s most important to me: having fun, scoring goals, and defend. The most important is that we attack.
