The New York Red Bulls know they face a tough opposition in Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena.
Coming into the match with 33 points through 19 games played, SKC has a +11 goal differential on the season.
"They understand what’s expected of them, how they want to play, and how things work and because he’s done such a good job with that I think this is why it’s easier for players to come in to his system, in to his organization and do well," Captain Luis Robles said.
Kansas City has posted a 6-1-3 record at home this season, but is just 3-3-3 on the road.
"I think we’re fortunate to get them at our place," Alex Muyl said. "Of course, with the backdrop of last year’s loss in the Open Cup Final, two years ago they came here and won, which is game I made my debut in, so we have a lot of respect for this team and we know what they’re all about, and so for us it’s about getting back on track and getting three points."
Muyl said the Red Bulls know they have to stick to the game plan against an always-dangerous SKC team.
"They have a very clear philosophy it seems like, as do we, and I think our philosophies are not very different," Muyl said. "For us, it’s going to be about trusting the way we play and the way we stack up against them and how good we’ve been at home this year."
