INSIDE THE 18: Sixth Different Lineup Deployed for New York Red Bulls

The New York Red Bulls will deploy their sixth different Starting XI in their sixth competitive match of 2018.


New York continues to have strong performance after strong performance, as they are unbeaten through the first five matches (4-0-1) of 2018 across all competitions. During their unbeaten stretch, the Red Bulls are 1-0-1 on the road with a plus-2 goal differential (3 GF;1 GA). 


Carlos Rivas starts up top for New York, with Kaku, Vincent Bezecourt and Marc Rzatkowski starting in the midfield.


Tyler Adams will control the defensive midfield.


Jesse Marsch will start Connor Lade, Fidel Escobar, Aaron Long, Tim Parker and Kyle Duncan along the back line.


The Red Bulls have used 22 different players and five different Starting XIs to start the season 4-0-1. The Red Bulls have used three graduates of the USL program, and seven academy graduates. Those players account for 40 percent of all minutes played through five games.


On the bench for the Red Bulls will be Ryan Meara, Aurelien Collin, Derrick Etienne, Jr., Michael Amir Murillo, Alex Muyl, Daniel Royer and Bradley Wright-Phillips.


Sean Davis and Kemar Lawrence took knocks in training and did not travel with the club.

Marsch is in his fourth season with the Red Bulls and sits with an overall mark of 49-31-23 at the club. Marsch is the only coach in franchise history to start a fourth season and looks to become the first coach in franchise history to reach 50 MLS regular season wins.
