Match Notes

Rare Trip to Memphis – New York will travel to face Memphis for just the second time in club history, with the only other match taking place at AutoZone Park being a 2-2 draw during the 2019 season. Overall, Memphis holds the slight 2-1-1 edge in the all-time series and took the most recent meeting 2-1 on August 3 at MSU Soccer Park.

Rutkowski Makes History – Red Bulls Academy goalkeeper Alan Rutkowski made history during his professional debut on October 1, becoming the youngest goalkeeper to start a match in club history. At 15 years and 341 days old, he also became the fifth youngest in club history to appear in a match, with two of the four above him also debuting this season (Nathan Worth, Davi Alexandre).

Defensive Test – New York will look to put in a strong defensive performance against one of the better offensive clubs in USL Championship in Memphis. As a team, they have scored 62 goals this season, which ranks third in the league. Individually, Phillip Goodrum sits second league-wide in goals with 19. Red Bulls II has held opponents to one goal or fewer in two of its last three matches.

Last Time Out

New York fell to Phoenix Rising FC 5-1 on Saturday, October 1, at Wild Horse Pass. Jordan Adebayo-Smith scored his third goal over seven matches, and Alan Rutkowski made his professional debut.

Memphis and Rio Grande Valley FC played to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday, October 5, at AutoZone Park. Jeremy Kelley scored his eighth goal of the season in the second minute, and Laurent Kissiedou added his seventh of the season early in the second half.
