The New York Red Bulls, despite the World Cup break in MLS, will quickly return to action on Saturday. They'll face off against the Philadelphia Union for the Round of 16 in the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Head Coach Jesse Marsch was not thrilled with the scheduling, as it's his team's fifth game in fifteen days.
"Life's not fair, you know," Marsch said following the 2-1 victory over Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday night. "The scheme's not always fair. We have to find a way to use as much of our roster and find out which guys are ready to turn around and push as hard as we can for Saturday night and go after it."
The Red Bulls will get Kaku back, helping replenish a team working toward much-needed days off. Marsch said the Open Cup match will be a "big challenge."
"It's going to be really, really tough, but we are going to find out about ourselves and we're going to go down to Philly and just pour our hearts into it," Marsch said.
