NYRB II dropped their first match of the 2021 season against Hartford Athletic on Friday, April 30. Jake Lacava and Mandela Egbo each recorded their first goals of the season, while Jeremy Rafanello tallied his first assist of the season.
Matthew Acosta and Roald Mitchell made their professional debuts as USL Academy signings, while Michael Knapp and Daniel Edelman both made their professional debuts as contracted players. Â
NYRB II holds the all-time record against Charleston Battery with a 3-1-6 record during the regular season, including a 2-0-0 record in the USL Championship playoffs. The last time the two clubs met was NYRB II’s last home match of the 2019 USL Championship season and that match ended in a 1-1 draw.
This match will mark Charleston Battery’s first match of the 2021 season. Former NYRB II midfielder Zeiko Lewis returns for his third season with the Battery after recording 13 goals and seven assists over his first two seasons.
Following Friday’s match, NYRB II will host their third straight match at MSU Soccer against Miami FC on Friday, May 14. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
