Red Bull New York have acquired Honduran international David Ruiz via loan from Inter Miami CF, the club announced today. Ruiz will be on loan through the end of the 2026 MLS season, and New York will have an option to buy at the conclusion of the loan. The Red Bulls will send $75,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money (GAM) to Inter Miami CF.
“We are excited to welcome David to Red Bull New York and we look forward to helping him to take the next step in his career,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “David is a talented midfielder, who brings a combination of technical quality and competitiveness group, and has already gained valuable MLS experience, and we believe his profile fits very well with the way we want to play.”
Ruiz, 22, has played the last four seasons with Inter Miami CF, where he made 82 career appearances across all competitions. Ruiz has scored four goals and tallied four assists in his time for the club. The Miami, Florida native won the 2025 MLS Cup, 2024 Supporters Shield, and 2023 Leagues Cup with Inter Miami CF. During the 2024 season, Ruiz made 28 MLS appearances and recorded one goal and three assists during their Supporters Shield winning campaign. He made his MLS debut on March 25, 2023, against Chicago Fire FC and scored his first career MLS goal on May 13, 2023, against Atlanta United FC.
The midfielder joined Inter Miami CF Academy in 2021, and immediately began playing for Inter Miami CF II in both USL League One and MLS NEXT Pro. He made 22 career appearances for Inter Miami CF II, where he tallied two assists.
“David is a player who can impact the game in a lot of different ways. He has the ability to play forward, cover ground, compete, and make things happen with the ball,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “We are excited about the opportunity to work with him and we believe he can be an important addition to the group.”
Ruiz has made 10 career appearances for the Honduras National Team, where he has scored three goals. He made his debut for Honduras in a 4-0 win over Grenada on September 12, 2023. Ruiz’s most recent call up was on June 6 of this year, where he played 28 minutes against Argentina.
